Anytime someone asks me if I know any good bands these days with a shoegaze/new wave sound I quickly mention 800beloved. I have pretty much been following this band since the project first started about four years ago by the group’s leader Sean Lynch. The song “Everything Purple” is the title track to the band’s sophomore album via Moodgadget Records.
The Lynch family has been in the funeral business in Milford, MI for three generations, where Sean currently works as a cosmetologist & assistant. Its like that upbringing adds a dark, morbid yet captivating taste to the music of 800beloved, touching on the classic sounds of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Echo & The Bunnymen, or even Joy Division.
After years of going through a rotating cast of musicians, Lynch has seemed to find a core group for the band with members Anastasiya “Stacy” Metesheva and Scott Masson that are working out nicely. The shows I have seen in the past at places like The Magic Stick or Lager House have been quite enchanting. They bring a new modern feel to an older sound keeping with a moody undertone. Can’t wait to hear what they have next for us.
